Community Service Projects

The Rotary Club of Eagan is proud to touch the lives of those living in Eagan and around the world. We're proud of the fact that our club members have dedicated their time, energy and dollars to support such incredibly important intitatives.  The community service initiatives we're currently involved with are as follows:

Ethics Workshop
Since 1992, the Rotary Club of Eagan has sponsored and presented a youth workshop on ethics for Eagan High School students. This dynamic workshop was established by a joint committee of Rotarians and Eagan High School educators and consists of a day-long immersion into situations that require tough decisions. The workshop is designed to provoke the participants’ reflections, thinking and discussion on the roles values play in the lives of individuals, organizations and communities. Each year, the primary participants are 50 Eagan High School juniors and seniors judged to lead or have influence over their peers.Professor Kenneth Goodpaster, holder of the Koch Endowed Chair in Business Ethics at the University of St. Thomas, has participated in the ongoing development of the workshop and presents it each year.

Teacher Recognition

Each year, the Rotary Club of Eagan presents awards to selected Eagan teachers who excel in the classroom. Nominations are solicited from each school and the teachers are honored at a special luncheon each spring. As each award is presented, the teacher’s contributions are recognized through the words of their nominators.

Public Safety Recognition
The Public Safety Recognition Program annually recognizes a police officer and a firefighter from Eagan for excellence in their professions. Past recipients have attended the awards ceremony with their families.

Eagan Central Park Band Shell Project

In 2003, the Rotary Club dedicated a major gift to Eagan - a band shell in Eagan’s Central Park. Rotarians made a financial pledge of $150,000 over a five year period toward its design and construction. Club members partnered with Eagan City Council members and Eagan city staff to turn the dream of a community band shell into reality in 2004.

Veterans Recognition

Each year, the Rotary Club of Eagan pays special tribute to the military men and women of our region who have served our country so bravely and honorably. This emotional program coincides with Veteran’s Day and includes a presentation, complete with military memorabilia and plenty of stories.

Boy Scout Charter Partner

Our club is a partner with Boy Scout Troop 345, Cub Scout Pack 445 and Venture Crew 645. Both units are very active with a large membership and many committed adult leaders. Each year representatives from our troop, pack and crew visit the club to report on their activities and receive recognition for their accomplishments.  The Rotary Club of Eagan was selected charter partner of the year for 2006.

Armful of Love

Another continuing club project is Armful of Love. Every December our club members contribute money, go shopping and wrap holiday gifts for needy families in the community.
